Installation guide

Install Orbit Desktop

Orbit Desktop is currently offered for Windows and Linux. Choose a package from the downloads page, then follow the steps for your operating system.

01

Windows

Download the current Windows installer from the Orbit downloads page, open the downloaded file, and follow the setup prompts. Launch Orbit from the Start menu when setup completes.

Windows can show a SmartScreen notice for an application without a widely recognized publisher reputation. Confirm that the installer came from the official Orbit downloads page before continuing.

02

Linux

Choose the package that matches your distribution: DEB for Debian-based systems, RPM for RPM-based systems, or AppImage for a compatible x86_64 system.

Open a DEB or RPM with your software installer. For AppImage, allow the file to run as a program in its permissions, then open it.

03

Set up your coding agents

Orbit organizes supported coding-agent command-line tools. Install and sign in to each provider's CLI separately, then open a project workspace in Orbit.

Orbit Desktop updates are signed and checked from inside the app. Check the downloads page for the current package list.
